Chahbahar and Gwadar as Dubai and Doha of Iran & Pakistan

Mahmoud Karzai, brother of Afghan President Hamid Karzai who is currently visiting Iran said on Thursday that Chabahar Free Trade Zone is considered as the best possible route for transfer of goods to Afghanistan.

Karzai who is an Afghan businessman and founder of Afghanistan’s International Chamber of Commerce made the remarks during his unofficial visit to the country.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said the aim of his visit was to identify existing capabilities of the Iranian FTZ in commercial field and transit of goods.

Meanwhile International Conference on Chah-Bahar, Transit and Eastern Corridor Development of Iran, is to be held in the Chah-Bahar Free Zone on November 26-27.

The event is aimed at speeding up implementation of projects approved by the government and to use experiences of both private and public sectors as well as those of the transportation experts to this end.

The conference is co-organized by the Free Trade Zones Secretariat in cooperation with the related organizations

A number of domestic and foreign experts and academics in the field of transportation industry would attend the event to discuss the southern port’s potentials for transit of goods.
